The Science of the Ultimate Metabolic Health Formula
Introduction
Metabolic health is one of the most important determinants of long-term wellness and healthy aging. While many people focus solely on blood sugar, true metabolic health involves the coordinated regulation of glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, lipid metabolism, body composition, mitochondrial function and energy production, inflammatory balance, and gut health.
Modern dietary patterns, sedentary lifestyles, chronic stress, inadequate sleep, and aging can challenge these systems. I developed my Ultimate Metabolic Health Formula to address multiple interconnected metabolic pathways through a synergistic combination of clinically studied ingredients including Berbevis® berberine phytosome, Eriomin® citrus bioflavonoids, Ceylon cinnamon extract, and AKK11® - the heat-killed form of a proprietary Akkermansia muciniphila.
In this article, I want to explain how these ingredients work together, in an interconnected way, to support metabolic health.
Why Metabolic Health Matters
Insulin resistance and impaired metabolic efficiency are increasingly recognized as important contributors to age-related declines in health. Maintaining healthy glucose metabolism, insulin responsiveness, body composition, and cardiovascular function is essential for supporting vitality and longevity. Because metabolic health is influenced by multiple physiological systems, comprehensive nutritional support often produces greater benefits than focusing on a single pathway.
Berbevis®: Advanced Berberine Delivery
Berberine is one of the most extensively researched natural compounds for metabolic support. Numerous studies have demonstrated its ability to support healthy glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, lipid metabolism, and cardiovascular wellness. However, conventional berberine hydrochloride suffers from poor absorption. Berbevis® utilizes proprietary Phytosome® technology that complexes berberine with phospholipids to enhance absorption and bioavailability. This improved delivery system allows lower doses to provide meaningful physiological activity.
Clinical research with Berbevis® has demonstrated meaningful support for multiple aspects of metabolic health superior to standard berberine forms. Specifically, human studies, supplementation with 550 mg once or twice daily has been shown to support greater improvements in healthy glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, lipid balance, and body composition.1-6
In regards to changes in body composition, researchers reported favorable reductions in total and abdominal fat along with an improved body fat-to-muscle ratio, indicating that Berbevis® may help support the maintenance of lean body mass while promoting a healthier distribution of body fat.4,5 For example, in one double-blind study, Berbevis® at a dosage of 550 mg once daily, in addition to improvements in other markers of metabolic health, results showed an 11% decrease in the body fat to muscle mass ratio indicating Berbevis® may help preferentially promote loss of fat and preserve muscle mass.5 And that is always a key weight loss goal rarely achieved by other weight loss aids.
Eriomin®: Citrus Flavonoids for Metabolic Signaling
Eriomin® is a patented blend of citrus bioflavonoids derived primarily from lemon. These naturally occurring polyphenols help support healthy metabolic signaling pathways and antioxidant defenses. In multiple human clinical trials, Eriomin® has demonstrated significant support for healthy glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, GLP-1 activity, antioxidant status, and inflammatory balance.
In studies involving individuals with poor metabolic health, daily supplementation with 200 mg of Eriomin® increased GLP-1 levels by 15–22%, improved markers of insulin function, reduced oxidative stress, and supported healthy inflammatory responses. Emerging research also suggests Eriomin® may help promote a healthier gut microbiome, providing additional support for metabolic wellness through the gut-metabolic axis.6-8
These multiple mechanisms make Eriomin® a uniquely comprehensive ingredient for supporting healthy metabolic function and healthy aging. Eriomin® complements berberine by working through different but overlapping pathways that influence insulin sensitivity and metabolic efficiency.
Ceylon Cinnamon: Traditional Wisdom Supported by Modern Science
Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) is one of the most extensively studied botanicals for supporting healthy glucose metabolism and insulin function. Human clinical studies have demonstrated that Ceylon cinnamon supplementation may help support healthy fasting glucose levels, insulin sensitivity, lipid metabolism, and body.9-11
Research suggests that cinnamon's beneficial effects on metabolic health are related to its ability to support insulin receptor activity, promote healthy glucose transport into cells, and provide antioxidant protection against oxidative stress. In addition to supporting healthy glucose metabolism, studies have shown that cinnamon may help support cardiovascular health and healthy inflammatory balance.
Because Ceylon cinnamon contains significantly lower levels of coumarin than common cassia cinnamon, it is generally considered the preferred form for long-term supplementation.
AKK11®: The Gut-Metabolism Connection
AKK11® is a proprietary form of Akkermansia muciniphila originally isolated from healthy infants. AKK11® exhibits exceptional stability and biological functions.12,13
Akkermansia muciniphila plays an important role in maintaining gut barrier integrity and healthy communication between the gut and the body's metabolic control systems. Scientific research has shown that A. muciniphila supports healthy glucose metabolism, body composition, inflammatory balance, and gastrointestinal wellness and the heat-killed or postbiotic form produces better results than the live organism.13-16
Emerging human and preclinical research shows AKK11® helps support a healthy gut environment, promotes metabolic efficiency, and supports key signaling pathways involved in appetite regulation and metabolic wellness. These multiple mechanisms make AKK11® a unique and valuable component of the Ultimate Metabolic Health formula.
But there is more! In two 12-week clinical trials involving overweight and obese adults, supplementation with AKK11® was associated with significant reductions in body weight, body fat mass, waist circumference, and fasting blood glucose, along with favorable changes in key metabolic hormones involved in appetite regulation and energy balance, including GLP-1, insulin, and leptin.
Participants receiving a dosage of 10 billion TFU achieved an average weight loss of 6.46 kg (14.2 pounds), a reduction of 3.0 kg (6.6 pounds) of body fat, and a 6.3 cm (2.5 inch) decrease in waist circumference in these 12 week studies.
In addition, AKK11® supplementation was also shown to support a balanced inflammatory response, as evidenced by reductions in the pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-6 and increases in the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-25.
The Power of Synergy
The true strength of the Ultimate Metabolic Health Formula lies in its synergistic design. And unlike most multi-ingredient formulas, all ingredients are provided at full clinical strength. By combining clinically studied ingredients at full clinical strength that work through complementary mechanisms, greater benefits are possible compared to using any single ingredient.
Together, the ingredients work to support a wide range of metabolic functions including healthy glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, gut health, metabolic efficiency, weight management, and overall wellness. It reflects a holistic understanding that optimal metabolic health requires support for multiple interconnected physiological systems rather than a single pathway or ingredient.
I believe it is the most powerful metabolic health formula available, and that is exactly why I labeled it the “Ultimate.” If you need metabolic support, its your best choice.
